The ACCME issued a call for comment on a proposal to prohibit use of corporate logos in disclosures of commercial support.
The group’s Standards for Commercial Support require providers to disclose to learners funding sources; logos and slogans are OK, “if they are not product promotional in nature.” The group said its proposal, that providers state the name of the commercial supporter in text format only, could “strengthen the firewall between CME and promotion.” Psychiatrist and blogger Daniel Carlat disagreed: “They are, quite literally, proposing that all disclosures get buried in the fine print.” The comment deadline is June 6.
