TorreyPines Therapeutics has named Peter Davis to its board of directors, increasing the number of board members to eight. Davis brings more than 25 years of management experience to the biopharmaceutical company’s board, including serving on the boards of Coulter Corporation, which was sold to Beckman Instruments, and Seminis, which was sold to Monsanto.

Schering-Plough has hired David Wing as area vice president, midwest. Wing comes from Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, where he held the position of vice president, sales and business director, Midwest Business Unit, managing primary care, psychiatry and hospital market segments.

AGENCIES
HLS (Health Learning Systems), a medical education unit of CommonHealth, has hired Dipika Dabhi and Conory Pogarty as program coordinators within the program-management division and publication sector division, respectively.

CommonHealth’s Altum unit has added Laura Perry as vice president, account group supervisor. Prior to joining Altum, Perry worked at Corbett Accel Healthcare Group as vice president, senior director.

Fission Communications has added Marc Berry as director of creative services, and promoted John Watson to senior editor/medical writer after a year at the agency. Berry brings 18 years of design and production experience to his position. He had served as creative director of his own company, B Media Design, and before that had been design and motion graphics manager at Moving Pictures. Watson, who has worked mostly on Fission’s oncology accounts, will get the additional responsibility of leading and managing account work.

MediMedia USA has hired Steven Peskin as executive vice president and chief medical officer. Peskin most recently led HealthSTAR’s clinical trials support company Pharmaceutical Research Plus as chief executive.

Palio Communications has hired Marcy DeBiccari and Andre Henley as account executives, Amy Howard as account coordinator, Langdon Jenkins as senior copywriter, Cassandra Lord as account supervisor and Allen Mercier as editor.

Kane and Finkel Healthcare Communications has added 13 new members. They are Nancy Berezin, medical writer; David Bloom, art director; Mirella Bucci, copywriter; Sean Kelly, associate art director; Lesley Palfreyman, associate art director; Sarah Patterson, creative group supervisor; John Stacey, creative group supervisor; Elisa Widjaja, art director; Jamie Zenner, copy coordinator; Sheelagh Ratliff, director of print production; Ruby Pixley, production manager; Creighton Fung, director of studio services; and Christopher Nelson, senior production artist.

Pharmaceutical and biotech contract marketing services outfit CHS has hired Philip Grinnell and Ken Wilson for its marketing team. Grinnell joins the firm from PharmaStrat, a strategic consulting and qualitative market research firm, where he served as vice president, strategic services and executive pharmaceutical consultant. Wilson comes from PharmaLinkFHI, a contract health research organization specializing in online clinical trails management and technical assistance, where he served as vice president, sales and marketing.            

Ferguson has named Karen Thompson as senior vice president, management supervisor from vice president, account group supervisor; Nancy Schroeter to vice president, associate creative director; Sarah McGrath to senior account executive, from account executive; and Sasha Robinson to group art director, from senior art director.

Elizabeth Paczolt and Amy Supnick have been hired as medical directors by Interlink Healthcare Communications. The two form part of the agency’s Medical Strategy and Communications department, offering expertise in a range of disease areas and developing promotional and med ed programs for pharmaceutical and medical imaging clients. Paczolt is a radiologist; Supnick, an endocrinologist and internist.
