Jack Barrette, formerly pharma category development officer for Yahoo!, has left the search engine to head up his own company.He is now CEO of MovingHealth, an online consumer health start-up.“We’re developing breakthrough user experiences in areas like rich media, video, user-generated content and social search,” Barrette said of his new company. “They are actively hiring a team with expertise in those areas both inside and outside of the healthcare industry.”Backed by venture capital firm General Catalyst, MovingHealth for the time being will be based at the VC’s Cambridge, Mass., offices. The new company doesn’t yet have a timeline for programs.Barrette said Yahoo! remains “dedicated to the healthcare and pharmaceutical space” and will look for a replacement for his position. Bonnie Becker, director, health category, Yahoo! Search Marketing, will assume Barrette’s duties in the meantime. Barrette, who joined Yahoo! in 2004, had been in charge of representing Yahoo! to the health and pharmaceutical industries and for advertising revenue derived from those industries.
