The Head and Neck Cancer Alliance unveiled a video contest to help Americans identify the signs, symptoms and risk factors associated with oral, head and neck cancer. Prospective contestants are asked to submit 30-second videos which encourage “increased education and awareness of oral, neck and head cancer,” the group said in a release. Submissions are being accepted March 4th through March 31st. The grand prize winner will receive an iPad and a chance to have their submission broadcast on TV. Second- and third-place winners will receive $200 and $100 cash prizes. According to a Harris Interactive poll of 2,100 Americans, nearly 64% of respondents were not knowledgeable about these three types of cancer and 71% said they had not been examined for the disease. Bristol-Myers Squibb will fund screenings for the group’s 16th annual Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Week April 14-20.
