Sports sponsorships and awareness campaigns aimed at seniors are staples of pharmaceutical communications. Ferring Pharmaceuticals has found a way to combine them with a multi-year sponsorship of the National Senior Games Association on behalf of its osteoarthritis treatment Euflexxa.

The Suffern, NY-based company will serve as an exclusive sponsor of the Summer National Senior Games—The Senior Olympics Presented by Humana, to be held from June 22-July 7 in Louisville, KY. Representing the brand at the games will be 1976 Olympic gold medalist and OA sufferer Bruce Jenner.

Ferring’s William Garbarini, executive director for sales and marketing, said in a statement: “Our goal is to educate people about knee osteoarthritis and the available treatment options while supporting those who live with it every day. What better way to promote active aging than to be a part of an event as important as the Senior Games?”

The Games are billed as “the largest multi-sport event in the world for seniors 50 and over.” This year’s event is expected to draw more than 12,000 athletes and 45,000 attendees over its 16 days.
