Digitas Health named Gautam Gulati, MD, MBA, MPH, to the position of VP/group director, the fifth physician to join the agency's Science and Medicine department. Based in Digitas' New York office, Gulati reports to chief medical officer Michael Golub, MD. Prior to joining Digitas Health, Gulati served as a life sciences strategy consultant with The Frankel Group and was also medical director for IntraMed Educational Group, Sudler & Hennessey's promotional education group.

Steven Galson, MD, MPH, the former acting US surgeon general, has joined Washington, DC, consulting firm Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) as SVP for civilian health operations. As part of SAIC's Health Solutions Business Unit, Galson will help advise life-science clients. His prior roles include US acting assistant secretary of health and director of FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research.

Former FDA staffer Daniel Schultz, MD, joined consulting firm Greenleaf Health as SVP, medical devices and combination products. Greenleaf provides product-development guidance to FDA-regulated companies. Schultz directed the FDA's Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) from 2004 until stepping down this year. He became deputy director for clinical and review policy in the Office of Device Evaluation in 2001 and director of the Office of Device Evaluation the following year. From 1998-2001, he led the Office of Device Evaluation in the Division of Reproductive, Abdominal, ENT, and Radiological Devices.
