MicroMass Communications promoted Cheryl Nigro to EVP, client services. Formerly senior vice president of new business development and general manager of the agency’s pharma corridor office in Morristown, NJ, Nigro will now have responsibility for the full MicroMass national account services group in addition to her continuing duties as head of the Northeast office. She remains a member of the agency’s executive team and reports directly to Jay Bigelow, president of MicroMass. A veteran marketing executive with more than 20 years of agency and corporate healthcare experience, Nigro joined MicroMass in 2006 from Novartis, where she was director of consumer relationship marketing for the company’s cardiovascular franchise. There, she played a key strategic role in development of the BP Success Zone, a comprehensive support program designed to increase patient compliance with the Novartis portfolio of hypertension drugs. Prior to Novartis, Nigro was EVP of client services at DVC HealthCare, where she helped build the agency’s OTC and pharmaceutical client base. She also worked in consumer advertising at major agencies in New York, including the former Foote, Cone & Belding and Bozell Worldwide.

HealthEd Group announced the appointment of Kristin Patton as president of the company, including its newly created second agency, HealthEd Encore. Patton will oversee the management of both HealthEd Group agencies, HealthEd and HealthEd Encore, while Roy Broadfoot will continue as CEO of both companies. Patton was previously the SVP of strategic services with HealthEd, joining the company in 2005. Prior to HealthEd, Patton worked at DVC Worldwide where she planned and implemented integrated marketing programs for a wide range of clients in the healthcare, packaged goods and service industries. Earlier in her career, Patton was assistant director of public relations for Pascack Valley Hospital. She has also worked in account management for Thomas Ferguson Associates, a division of CommonHealth.

David Grainger, PhD, has joined the journal Drug Delivery as co-editor-in-chief. Drug Delivery, is published by Informa Healthcare. Grainger is currently professor and chair of the Department of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Chemistry in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Utah.
