Xanodyne Pharmaceuticals, a specialty pharma focused on women’s health and pain management, announced three executive hires: Natasha Giordano, chief commercial officer; Rita O’Connor, chief financial & information officer; and Peter Wentworth, senior vice president, human resources.

Ex-FTC bigwig David Scheffman has joined consultancy Cornerstone Research as a senior advisor. Scheffman twice served as director of the bureau of economics at the FTC.

Former Pharmaceutical Executive editor-in-chief Patrick Clinton has joined the health and life sciences practice of management consultancy Oliver Wyman. Clinton, who recently left the title after a six-year tenure as editor-in-chief, “will be a leader in building the Oliver Wyman brand across key constituencies – industry executives, the business and trade press, and the talent market – to support our aggressive growth agenda,” said practice head Michael Weissel.

Brandofino Communications, publisher of Doctor’s Digest, hired Diane Carpenteri onto its sales team. Carpenteri previously worked in sales at Cliggot Publishing, a US-based division of CMPMedica. Carpenteri won one of the Association of Medical Media’s (AMM) Nexus awards in 2007.

Abraxis BioScience, a Los Angeles-based biopharma, announced the appointment of Mary Lynne Hedley to executive vice president of operations and chief scientific officer. Hedley was most recently EVP at Eisai, following Eisai’s acquisition of MGI Pharma, where Hedley had served as EVP and chief scientific officer.
