According to the IBM Digital Analytics Benchmark report, mobile traffic was up 40% compared to the fourth quarter of 2012, and accounted for nearly 35% of all online traffic. Smartphones drove 21.3% of all online traffic in 2013.

Canada’s Office of the Privacy Commissioner investigated Google over targeted health ads. The Financial Post reports that the search engine violated the country’s advertising rules when health service ads popped up on a user’s screen after searching for sleep apnea devices. The commissioner says sleep apnea should have fallen under the “sensitive” category of search terms, which means advertisers should not be able to leverage that information for ads.

Glooko, a diabetes software company, with the Joslin Diabetes Center has agreed to co-develop a  “virtual Joslin” remote diabetes management platform. The platform will allow Joslin and other care teams to remotely monitor, coach and guide patients between in-clinic consulations.

Digital health startup Welltok said  that it had received $22.1 million in Series C funding from IBM and Qualcomm ­Ventures’ life fund portfolio.
