The FDA’s Office of Drug Safety (ODS) has stepped up its search for a permanent director of drug safety, a position that has been vacant since 2003, with an online posting on the government’s job Web site.
With a salary for the job hovering in the $103,000-$180,000-range, many qualified applicants, in the past, have forsaken the post for more lucrative opportunities at biotech and pharma companies, industry insiders said in published reports.
The last permanent director of ODS was Victor Raczkowski, who served in the role from September 2002 to October 2003. Paul Seligman, the permanent director of the Office of Pharmacoepidemiology and Statistical Science, served as the acting director of ODS from October 2003 to January 2005.  Ralph Lillie, the current acting director of ODS, began serving in January 2005.
More details and an online application for the position have been made available at the USAJobs Web site at http://www.usajobs.opm.gov/.
