NAAMECC, the North American Association of Medical Education and Communication Companies, changed its name to the National Association of Medical Education Companies (NAMEC). The shorter name, revealed in October, was accompanied by an updated website (namec-assn.org) and logo.

Lighthouse Learning, which develops and sells CME curricula without taking commercial support, hired Sherri Foster, CCMEP, as CME director. Foster previously was president of Scienta Healthcare Education, an accredited CME provider.

“CME Crossroads: A Survey of Continuing Medical Education Analysis, Criticism, Research and Policy Proposals” was published by Global Education Group. The peer-reviewed paper surveys key CME articles, policy papers, consensus documents and opinions between 2005 and 2010, identifying four “policy and scrutiny trends” and concluding with several recommendations.

The Alliance for CME will hold its 36th Annual Conference Jan. 26-29 in San Francisco. The theme of the meeting is the New CME—Blending Adult Learning Facilitation and Individual/Organizational Performance.
