Communication company DMD is tweeting a marketing term a day on its new Twitter feed. The feed, @DMD_Digital, posts a mix of new and old terms. SoLoMo—the convergence of social, local and mobile—is one recent example. A DMD rep told MM&M they hope to have of 2,000 followers by the end of the year.
Elsevier is the new publisher of The American Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry. Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, a division of Wolters Kluwer, has published the monthly journal for seven years. A spokesperson for the journal told MM&M that five potential publishers were in the running. “Elsevier was chosen based on the belief that it was best for the long-term growth of the journal—especially in the international arena,” she said.
Springer has hit a milestone in its efforts to digitize: the company said more than 200,000 titles are now part of the iBookstore inventory. The Springer Handbook of Nanotechnology, Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning and the series Graduate Texts in Mathematics are among the ebook titles being offered. Springer says that it also plans to digitize its archives, which date back to the 19th century.
