Sonja Foster-Storch previously served as president of McCann Echo.

GSW appointed Sonja Foster-Storch as president of North America, a role that was held most recently by Marci Piasecki, who left the agency at the end of 2016.

Foster-Storch previously served as president of McCann Echo and has held senior executive roles at Cline Davis & Mann, The HealthEd Group, and Clinical Connexion. She reports to Lisa Stockman, president of inVentiv Health Communications.

As president of GSW North America, Foster-Storch is responsible for leading the agency’s operations in New York; Toronto; Columbus, Ohio; Montreal; and Newtown, Pennsylvania. She will offer strategic direction to the agency’s domestic and global healthcare clients.

“We’re thrilled to have Sonja join GSW,” said Stockman, in an email. “Her down-to-earth and adventuresome personality brings a unique blend of positive energy and strategic savvy to GSW.”

Piasecki did not immediately respond to MM&M’s inquiry about leaving GSW.

Last week, McCann Health announced the promotion of Jesse Johanson, previously EVP and director of strategic planning, to McCann Echo’s new president. He replaces Foster-Storch.

“Jesse is an exceptional talent and has done an outstanding job of expanding the scientific and strategic capabilities at McCann Echo,” said Amar Urhekar, president of McCann Health Americas, in a news release. “As president, I’m confident that Jesse will lead McCann Echo to new heights of growth and success.”
