GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare has announced the appointment of John Graham to the position of chief marketing officer (CMO) for Consumer Healthcare, North America (CHNA), which encompasses such consumer brands as Aquafresh and Sensodyne toothpastes and Tums antacid. Graham will lead the company’s CHNA business to boost sales and profit, and will be responsible for integrating global product teams with local marketing plans to drive brand business and image. Graham’s most recent post was VP of corporate equity at Johnson & Johnson, and he was the pharma’s VP, US marketing for J&J Vision Care before that, having held numerous positions within sales and marketing during his 16-year tenure with J&J.

Arena Pharmaceuticals has announced that Robert E. Hoffman will rejoin the company on August 29 as VP, finance and CFO. Hoffman previously served in various financial positions with Arena – including the position that he is returning to – for more than 13 years before leaving in March to work for another biopharmaceutical company. He currently serves as a member of the Financial Accounting Standards Board’s small business advisory committee and the steering committee of the Association of Bioscience Financial Officers. Hoffman is also a member and a former director and President of the San Diego Chapter of Financial Executives International.
