The Bloc has promoted Jennifer Matthews to president and CEO as founding partners Susan Miller Viray and Rico Viray step into chairman roles.
Matthews was previously president and managing partner at the agency, where she has worked for 12 years. Miller Viray has moved to the role of chairman of The Bloc, and Viray was named chairman of The BlocPartners, the agency’s global network. Matthews took on the new position in March.
“[Miller Viray and Viray] are focused on the network, growing the network and advancing the network strategically and from a business perspective,” she said. “I’m very laser-focused on The Bloc and how we are driving business results here in the U.S.”
In 2017, The Bloc reported a 4.8% revenue drop to $40 million. However, the agency is “reintroducing” itself to clients and talent via the leadership changes and its revamped website, which was unveiled last week, Matthews said.
Prior to joining The Bloc in 2007, Matthews was SVP and client service director at Wunderman and Young & Rubicam. She began her career at McCaffrey & McCall Advertising.
