SAN FRANCISCO: W2O Group posted an organic revenue increase of 23% in 2018, bringing its total to $177 million.

The agency also increased its profit by a similar percentage, it said in a statement.

Existing clients accounted for 51% of revenue in 2018. The firm made no acquisitions last year, but it opened three offices in Atlanta, Zurich, and Washington, D.C.

“You know a lot was from current clients, but we won a lot competitively,” said founder and CEO Jim Weiss. “We got more competitive opportunities than we’ve ever had, and I don’t know if it’s because we’ve become more visible, but i just feel like we’re getting better known than we’ve been before, and we have a lot more shots on goal.”

Weiss said the agency saw growth in areas such as healthcare technology and public affairs.

“As technology continues to disrupt the industry, our experience of being in the middle of that is really driving the growth,” he said. “The other area that’s becoming strong is public affairs around pricing and access, working on both the communication aspects and the policy.”

Weiss added that healthcare communications “tends to get more robust when there’s quite a bit of attention on [healthcare in the media].”

In response, he said the company could make an acquisition or two this year.

“We want to grow in public affairs around pricing and access and add expertise in that area and also more in what I would call digital creation and content,” he said. “That’s our hope, though probably more in second half.”
