Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish and other notable entertainers signed on to Planned Parenthood’s ‘Bans Off Our Bodies’ campaign, which featured a full-page ad in The New York Times Friday morning.
The celebrity-endorsed Planned Parenthood ad is in response to the leaked draft opinion of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, a pending Supreme Court case that will decide whether all pre-viability prohibitions on elective abortions are unconstitutional.
Leaked earlier this month, the draft opinion authored by Justice Samuel Alito would effectively overturn Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 Supreme Court case that legalized abortion in the U.S.
“The Supreme Court is planning to overturn Roe v. Wade, taking away the constitutional right to abortion,” the ad read. “Our power to plan our own futures and control our own bodies depends on our ability to access sexual and reproductive health care, including abortion.”
More than 160 artists signed on to the campaign, promising “We will not go back — and we will not back down.” Other notable signatories include Miley Cyrus, Kendall Jenner, Megan Thee Stallion, Demi Lovato, Hailey Bieber, Selena Gomez, and Olivia Rodrigo.
As part of the Bans Off Our Bodies Day of Action, abortion rights groups plan to hold rallies nationwide on May 14 to protest the potential overturning of Roe v. Wade.
