Physician-generated video platform VideoMD.com has accumulated 2,500 videos, and will launch advertising on the site in the coming months.
The site, which officially launched last July, has been compiling patient education videos created by physicians and other healthcare practitioners, and will launch advertising in February or March at the latest, according to Dean Heller, president.
“Pharma will clearly be our main advertisers—we have a number of calls from some of the bigger companies already,” said Heller.
Physicians can use the site to introduce their practice, educate on a specific disease, explain a procedure, or communicate with patients’ families, among other things, said Heller. VideoMD.com can provide individualized pages for a doctor’s practice, and offers customizable search engines – videos can be searched by name and city exclusively, for example.
To upload videos, physicians and other healthcare practitioners must include a hospital affiliation during the registration process. Manufacturers can create searchable branded videos if they also agree to advertise on the site, said Heller.
