The Institute on Medicine as a Profession launched its IMAP AMC Conflict of Interest Policy Data Base, purporting to show academic medical centers’ ties to the drug industry.
The online database allows users to search by city, state or region for policies, memos, guidelines and curricula regarding the influence of drug and device makers on medical practices.
The site contains information on the policies of 90 academic medical centers in 12 key areas: gifts, meals, drug rep access, samples, purchasing committees, CME, consulting and honoraria, scholarships and travel, ghostwriting, speakers’ bureaus, enforcement and implementation.
