Solv wants to be the OpenTable for making same-day appointments at urgent care clinics. Since its launch about two years ago, customers have booked 1.5 million visits using the platform.
User-friendliness is the company’s secret sauce. Patients and caregivers can search for urgent care facilities located near them and view available appointment times. Users can also take a picture of their insurance card and find out details regarding pricing and copays. In mid-2018, the company rolled out Solv Pay, which allows consumers to pay via mobile devices.
“The last year has been lined with learnings, challenges and celebrations,” Heather Fernandez wrote in a recent Medium post. “Throughout all of it, I have developed an increasing conviction that by helping consumers understand the answers to three simple questions — Where should I go for care? When should I be seen for this problem? How much will it cost? — we can help consumers get the convenient care they need and deserve.”
Before founding Solv, Fernandez served as SVP and general manager of business services at Trulia, where she led product advertising, marketing and sales strategy.
