Comedian/actor Kevin Fredericks — better known as KevOnStage — has partnered with the CDC Foundation to launch “Live to the Beat with KevOnStage.” The seven-episode comedic web series aims to convey a range of information about health risks that disproportionately affect the heart health of Black people.
“We’ve seen the statistics; we know Black people are at higher risk for heart disease. And that can feel scary and overwhelming, and it’s easy to say, ‘Oh well,’ Fredericks said in a statement. “But there is something we can do to change the statistics; there’s something each of us can do to make the world healthier for Black folk and that’s why it was so important for me to make this series. To show experts, who look like me and understand me, sharing information that can help me — and millions of others.”
New episodes of “Live to the Beat with KevOnState” debut every Thursday. The CDC Foundation’s broader “Live to the Beat” initiative is designed to minimize the risk of cardiovascular disease in Black adults aged 35-54.
