Even in the best of times, there is a need for blood donations. But with COVID-19 prompting the American Red Cross to declare its first-ever blood crisis early this year, the organization realized that its usual awareness tactics wouldn’t be enough.

Enter Neve Campbell, a slasher-flick icon since Scream hit movie theaters in 1996. In “A Bloody Nightmare,” created by the nonprofit and BBDO New York, Campbell runs through a host of scary-movie tropes — but only to identify them as a waste of blood.

“Going to a cheerleading camp next to an abandoned insane asylum? It’s like throwing good blood away,” quips a cheerleader about to meet a gory fate.

The clip ends with the message that “blood isn’t just for movies, it saves lives.”
