Merz Aesthetics announced Tuesday that it is teaming with R&B star Teyana Taylor for a campaign to promote its anti-wrinkle Xeomin treatment.

The Merz partnership marks the first aesthetics collaboration for Taylor, who is known for her music career and work as a choreographer.

“I always strive to understand the ingredients in any product I’m using and listen to trusted sources like my doctors when choosing what’s right for my specific skin type,” Taylor said in a statement. “I had never tried an aesthetic treatment before, so it was important to choose a product that gives me consistent results without any unnecessary ingredients. That’s why I chose Xeomin for my frown lines.”

In an interview with Essence, Taylor said that while she is afraid of needles, Xeomin provides her with an anti-aging treatment that is comfortable and convenient for her.

Taylor’s partnership with Merz also has significant meaning for overcoming stigmas around cosmetic procedures among Black women. In a press release, Merz mentioned that Taylor’s involvement is critical as the company seeks to conquer stigmas around injectable treatments with women of color and offer an “option for all skin types.”

“Teyana Taylor embodies the true meaning of Beauty on Your Terms through her music, her style and, now, her beauty treatments,” said Patrick Urban, president of Merz North America, in a statement. “As one of the most dynamic and talented female entertainers, we are thrilled to partner with her in furthering our mission in bringing authentic confidence to life and encouraging others to do what makes them feel most confident as well.”

Taylor joins fellow singer Joe Jonas as a brand partner for the multichannel Beauty on Your Terms campaign. Merz unveiled Jonas first male celebrity brand partner for the product over the summer in an effort to reach younger consumers.

Beauty on Your Terms has spread through social media and YouTube with the hashtag #SmartTox and was a centerpiece of the recent New York Fashion Week.
