MM+M made a change at the top of its masthead Tuesday morning, hiring Jameson Fleming as its next editor-in-chief.
Fleming will serve as the front-facing ambassador for the MM+M brand. Additionally, the editorial staff of MM+M will report directly to Fleming.
He succeeds MM+M editor-in-chief Larry Dobrow, who was named to the post in November 2021.
Fleming joins MM+M following more than eight years at advertising trade publication Adweek. There, he rose the ranks from associate web editor to managing editor and most recently, executive editor.
In the latter position, he oversaw Adweek’s agencies, brands and creativity verticals, as well as the shape of the publication’s broader newsroom strategy. His prior roles included managing editor, agencies editor, chief of staff and news editor.
“Healthcare is a critically important business vertical, and how healthcare companies communicate their products and treatments can literally save lives,” Fleming said. “So it’s my great honor to serve as editor-in-chief of an industry-leading publication that covers such a serious topic. I look forward to working with the experienced and talented teams across all of MM+M.”
Fleming has more than 15 years of journalistic experience ranging from positions at Bleacher Report, The Syracuse Post-Standard and CBSSports.com. He is a graduate of Syracuse University.
“We’re so excited to have Jameson join MM+M. His background is a perfect fit for this role and we are eager to pursue the ideas he has in store for the brand,” said Denise Robbins, VP of digital publishing and media at Haymarket Media, in a statement. “His proven leadership at Adweek, coupled with his deep understanding of the intersection between healthcare and communication, makes him the ideal person to lead our editorial vision. We’re confident that under his guidance, MM+M will continue to set the standard in healthcare media, delivering unparalleled insights and value to our readers and partners.”
Fleming’s hire comes ahead of several industry events MM+M will be hosting.
This includes the inaugural, daylong AI Deciphered conference in mid-September as well as the 21st annual MM+M Awards in early October and the third annual MM+M Media Summit in early November.
