Steve Madden has been appointed editor-in-chief of flagship Haymarket Business Media brand MM&M.
He will oversee and direct all content creation across print, digital, and live events for the brand, reporting to MM&M’s VP, editorial director Steve Barrett.
Madden most recently oversaw the reimagination and redesign of Golf Magazine, a role in which he was the key architect and driver of the recent rebranding of the sixty-year-old property. He also created and operated a content marketing program for Zagster, the shared mobility company.

Prior to his consulting role, Madden was the chief content officer of enthusiast publisher F+W Media. He has also served as the general manager and chief content officer of Sports on Earth, the joint venture between Major League Baseball Advanced Media and USA Today. During 11 years at health and wellness publisher Rodale, Madden oversaw the creation of the digital health platform Fitbie and was the editor-in-chief of Bicycling Magazine, which won two National Magazine Awards under his leadership. He has held senior editorial roles at Sports Illustrated and Outdoor Explorer, and is the author of Embrace the Suck (HarperCollins), a Crossfit memoir. His writing has appeared in more than 25 publications.
Madden made regular appearances on CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN and ESPN as an expert cycling commentator during his time at Bicycling and is featured in the Alex Gibney documentary “The Armstrong Lie.”
He lives in Chatham, NJ, with his wife, Anne Thompson, and three teenaged children. He’s a fan of all Boston sports teams, especially the 2018 World Series champion Red Sox. Madden is an avid cyclist, swimmer, and CrossFitter and collects wine and bikes.
As part of the expanded MM&M editorial team, Marc Iskowitz will take on a new role as executive editor. Iskowitz has been with MM&M for more than 10 years and will continue to lend his vast industry knowledge to the brand’s ongoing and expending editorial efforts — including new content initiatives.
“Steve is the latest addition to a growing editorial and custom content team that is truly blazing a trail in business media coverage of the pharma and healthcare marketing space,” said Barrett. “He will build on the excellent work already done by Marc Iskowitz and lead the content team and MM&M brand to its next level.”
Haymarket Business Media encompasses computer security specialist SC Media and SC Magazine, as well as and long-term care brand McKnight’s Senior Living, as well as MM&M, and PRWeek.
