Akili Interactive has hired Jon David, a 20-year veteran of the game-developer space, as chief product officer, the digital medicine company said Thursday.

David, who’s had senior-level roles at such firms as Electronic Arts and Microsoft, will join the Akili executive team and report to its CEO and co-founder, Eddie Martucci. He’s tasked with developing and executing the strategic vision of Akili’s future product pipeline.

Akili announced in January that it will go public as it launches EndeavorRx, an FDA-cleared and CE-marked prescription digital therapeutic for pediatric ADHD. The app was soft-launched in April 2020 when the U.S. Food and Drug Administration temporarily relaxed the 510(k) requirement during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.

During his career, David has been associated with a number of popular mobile game franchises. He joins after serving as VP and GM at Glu Mobile, acquired last year by Electronic Arts.

He previously founded and served as CEO of esports engagement company Taunt and spent more than 10 years at PopCap Games, where he led the studio as VP of social games. He also served in various Xbox-related roles at Microsoft.

Akili said it will lean on David’s consumer-products background as it aims to pioneer treatments that have the “feel and stickiness of consumer entertainment products.”
