Real Chemistry has named Rachi Govil chief client officer of the agency’s integrated marketing communications (IMC) group, effective September 19.

In the newly created role, Govil will design and implement innovative approaches to understand client needs and build and grow teams to exceed them within the agency’s IMC practice. She will also partner with leaders across Real Chemistry to continue to deliver impactful work for the company’s roster of clients, the agency said in a statement.

She reports to group president and chief strategy officer of the IMC practice Emily Poe in this role. Govil will oversee a small team in addition to the 800 staff across the group.

“Client service is a huge passion of mine in addition to team building and so this role for me felt like a perfect combination to be able to help the amazing existing teams at Real Chemistry deliver the utmost quality service with these really transformative solutions that Real Chemistry has,” Govil said.

Govil will work in collaboration with global president and chief client officer Jennifer Gottlieb to bring what Gottlieb does for the agency overall into the IMC group while building out the plan for the practice’s teams.

The agency’s IMC practice includes teams focused in earned media, medical affairs, scientific strategy, scientific visualization, activation, paid social, global inclusion and health equity and corporate pricing and public affairs.

The group has a portfolio of 150 clients across health.

“Having [Govil] join the team is going to continue to help us scale and drive excellence in our client experience, which is a core focus and goal for us,” Poe said. “We’re in growth mode and scaling quite a bit so [Govil] brings a unique ability to help us achieve those goals.”

The plan for the newly created role is still being established, but Govil’s immediate priority is assessing where Real Chemistry is with clients and figuring out how to bring the “best level” of client service efficiency and opportunity to all teams and partnerships, she said.

Prior to joining Real Chemistry, Govil served as EVP and North America healthcare practice lead at BCW. Govil left the agency September 1 after 18 years.

Govil is a member of PRWeek’s 2023 Women of Distinction class, 2022 Health Influencer 30 class and 2017 40 under 40 class.

Real Chemistry reported a revenue increase of 17% to $555 million globally and 18% to $513 million in the U.S. in 2022, according to PRWeek’s 2023 Agency Business Report.
