Christopher Tobias has been named the new president of Pennsylvania-based agency Dudnyk. Tobias has served as EVP, managing director of the agency. Frank Powers, who spent 12 years as president of Dudnyk, resigned, saying he wants to start the next phase of his professional career. 

The agency also announced that Rick Sutliff, previously EVP, CFO, will become COO.Tobias started at Dudnyk in 2003 as scientific director before becoming director of business development in 2006. He said in a release: “I am grateful for this opportunity to lead such a talented group of professionals. I have benefited greatly over the past 12 years from Frank’s leadership and I believe in the amazing people here who are fully committed to our clients and the continued success of our organization.”


VALENCIA, CA: MannKind’s CEO Hakan Edstrom has resigned, less than a year after he took over the role. MannKind founder and executive chairman Alfred Mann has been named the interim CEO while the board searches for a successor. Edstrom joined the company in 2001 and previously served as COO.

STAMFORD, CT: Purdue Pharma named Alan Dunton as senior vice president of research and development. He will report to the CEO, Mark Timney. Dunton will oversee the drugmaker’s medical research, drug safety, clinical pharmacology, virtual discovery, project management and pharmaceuticals and analytics teams. Dunton previously served as the founder of Danerius, a biotech and consulting firm, which was focused on over-the-counter drugs. Dunton was also president and managing director of the Janssen Research Foundation.

NEW YORK: Greyhealth Group (ghg) announced that Nichole Davies will join the agency to lead its brand strategy unit as EVP, director of brand strategy group. She will be responsible for the agency’s strategic planning practice. Davies hails from Interbrand Health, where she served as the global engagement lead. She also worked at McCann Worldgroup.

KANSAS CITY: Intouch Solutions promoted four people in its Kansas City office: Debbie Smith to manager of marketing analytics; she joined the agency in October 11 and previously served as senior marketing analyst. Michelle Armbruster has been elevated to director, eCommunications; she will work as a client relationship manager. Katema Adriyel was named to the post of senior director, marketing operations; she was previously director, marketing operations. Chris Knoll was promoted to senior quality architect; he will work to analyze the potential impact of mobile software and hardware changes on agency projects.
