Fishawack Health named Amar Urhekar as chief operating officer earlier this week.
The 2023 MM+M Agency 100 honoree announced that Urkehar will oversee its business units, including its consulting, medical, policy, value, evidence and access, marketing as well as digital experience and technology divisions.
Urhekar joins Fishawack Health from his most recent leadership post at Evoke, another 2023 MM+M Agency 100 honoree. At the agency, he served as global group president, leading a “multi-regional creative, marketing and advertising” agency platform.
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Urkehar led Ashfield Health as global president, where he revised the firm’s internal structure and led a substantial period of growth.
Earlier in his career, Urhekar was a founding member of McCann Health India and held leadership roles throughout Asia, including as regional director APAC, before relocating to the U.S. to serve as president of McCann Health Americas. There, he doubled the size of the network.
In this position, Urkehar will be involved in implementing the next stage of the agency’s integration strategy and report into Fishawack Health CEO Jon Koch.
“The challenges that face our industry are not siloed and neither should our creativity, strategies and mission to drive exceptional outcomes,” Koch said in a statement. “It takes the right experience to see the connections and pinpoint solutions that drive lasting advancements in health. Amar’s experience is uncommon, spanning continents and helping brands thrive at different stages of a product lifecycle. He complements our leadership in a way that will ensure we reach our full potential for clients and staff alike.”
Urhekar’s appointment marks yet another personnel move by Fishawack Health this year.
In late June, human resources veteran Harriet Shurville joined the agency as its chief people officer, overseeing the career experience programs, diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and participating in the aforementioned integration strategy.
Months before Shurville’s hire, the agency tabbed former Harrison and Star CEO Mario Muredda as U.S. and global marketing president and Elly Price, a longtime member of Grey Healthcare Group, as managing director. The agency also promoted Lara Hancock to serve as group head of strategic client partnerships and Ryan Mason to the chief marketing and creative officer role.
