GE Healthcare has hired Danielle Halstrom as chief communications and corporate marketing officer, effective October 24.

Halstrom, reporting to GE Healthcare chief people officer Betty Larson, will be responsible for internal, external, executive and digital comms, as well as corporate brand reputation and marketing.

The last person to lead comms for GE Healthcare was Greg Gibbons, who exited the role in September. Gibbons currently serves as principal at Kenridge Consulting.

Halstrom’s appointment comes as GE prepares to separate into three independent, publicly-traded companies focused on aviation, healthcare and energy. GE Healthcare is planned to officially launch in the first week of January 2023, according to a GE statement.

“Together we have an unprecedented opportunity [to] leverage a trusted brand, introduce a new company and deliver solutions for patients with passion and focus,” she said via Linkedin.

Prior to GE Healthcare, Halstrom was SVP and head of comms at biotechnology company Zai Lab. A Zai Lab representative could not be reached to comment on Halstrom’s replacement.

Halstrom also formerly worked at Bristol Myers Squibb as VP and head of commercial, research and development and manufacturing comms, including patient advocacy. Before that, she was senior director and leader of global colleague communications at Pfizer.

GE Healthcare works with Teneo, Consello, Ketchum and Interbrand, according to Halstrom.

Tara DiJulio was recently named chief comms officer at GE Aerospace, the company’s future aviation business. Megan Newhouse was also promoted to deputy chief comms officer at GE.

GE as a whole posted a revenue of $19.1 billion in Q3, up 3% from Q3 2021, according to a company statement. GE Healthcare’s revenue increased 6% year over year to $4.6 billion.
