Novo Nordisk promoted EVP of corporate development Lars Fruergaard Jørgensen (pictured) to president and CEO. He succeeds Lars Rebien Sørensen, who retired from the company in December.
Consulting at McCann Health appointed Jamie Avallone and Mark Archer to the newly created roles of managing directors in New York and London, respectively. Avallone was most recently director of physician research at Decision Resources Group. Archer was previously EVP and global head of business development at inVentiv Health. Consulting at McCann Health, the agency’s business consultancy, launched in September, and has offices in New York, London, and Tokyo.
GlaxoSmithKline appointed Luke Miels as president of global pharmaceuticals, effective in April. He will report to CEO designate Emma Walmsley and is to replace Abbas Hussain. Miels is currently EVP of AstraZeneca’s European business.
Four former Giant executives — Paul Hagopian, Joshua McCasland, Kevin Stokes, and Jonathan Peischl — formed a new healthcare communications agency called Splice. It is based in San Francisco.
Outcome Health, formerly ContextMedia, appointed Vivek Kundra as EVP of provider solutions. He will be responsible for driving growth and innovation across operations and solutions. Kundra was most recently EVP at Salesforce, and has served as U.S. chief information officer at the White House and chief technology officer for the D.C. government.
Kitty Brandstater, Kristi Faulkner, and Sandy Sabean launched a new healthcare agency, called Essentially, which seeks to use focusing on an “empathy-driven strategy” to help clients better communicate with patients.
