Adam Mariano has been hired as president and GM of healthcare at LexisNexis Risk Solutions, the data/analytics provider said Tuesday

He’s tasked with leading strategy and operations for the health division, which provides market intelligence and technology to various stakeholders. Mariano’s challenge will involve leveraging the company’s data and analytics capabilities across its life science, provider, payer and other customers.

A 20-year healthcare vet with a diversity of experiences, Mariano previously led global strategic operations at IQVIA, where he worked in the company’s integrated health practice division.

Prior to that, he served as VP of health innovation at HighPoint Solutions, where he focused on data management, data quality and analytics across all health market segments. HighPoint was bought by IQVIA in 2017.

A licensed nurse and an attorney under the California Bar, Mariano uses his law license to provide pro bono support in under-served communities of color with immigration, civil rights and health equity issues, according to a company statement.

“In addition to his experience as a healthcare executive, Adam’s unique background as a nurse, technologist, consultant and attorney brings a unique perspective into how we can help our customers achieve their goals,” noted Josh Schoeller, CEO of the healthcare business at LexisNexis Risk Solutions.

For his part, Mariano said LexisNexis Risk has the kind of holistic data needed to tackle big obstacles and opportunities. His goal involves helping clients transform complexity into opportunity to deliver better care.

“I’m excited to join the team and lead this business, leveraging our market-leading data and analytics capabilities to enable healthcare organizations to transform complexity into opportunity and deliver better health for all,” he said.

Last month, LexisNexis Risk beefed up its analytics offering, entering an agreement to acquire Human API. The company offers consumer-driven health data to life insurance and healthcare customers.

And last year, LexisNexis Risk launched a real-world data network with multiple clinical partners. The first cohort of companies to join the hub, which included health system collective Truveta and genomic data platform Ovation, brought datasets for precision medicine and health equity studies.

When paired with data assets from LexisNexis Risk Solutions, the company said, the network – dubbed Gravitas – is designed to enable more inclusive and advanced clinical research.
