McKesson has appointed Bonnie Jacobs as SVP of brand, marketing and communications.

Jacobs started at the drug distributor this week. She is responsible for managing its brand and overseeing its marketing capabilities, including events, digital marketing, communications, creative and marketing operations.

Previously, Jacobs was chief communications officer at Ancestry as the company began to expand into healthcare and SVP of corporate communications at health insurer Anthem.

She worked in pharma earlier in her career, including in corporate affairs and PR at Allergan, communications at Johnson & Johnson and corporate affairs at Bristol-Myers Squibb.

McKesson posted $55.7 billion in global revenue last quarter, up 6% from last year; U.S. revenue was $44.2 billion, up 8%.

The company has been named as a defendant in opioid lawsuits, in which plaintiffs say that it supplied pharmacies with an excessive amount of opioids and failed to disclose suspicious orders to the federal government. McKesson settled an opioid lawsuit in West Virginia for $37 million, but admitted no wrongdoing.

A McKesson representative was not available for comment on Jacobs’ hire.
