Wearables maker Oura has hired technology executive Tom Hale as CEO, the firm said in an announcement.

Hale has over 30 years of consumer tech experience spanning consumer and B2B markets, most recently as president of Momentive (formerly SurveyMonkey). He also served as COO of online vacation rental company HomeAway and as chief product officer for Linden Lab, the firm that operates online media platform Second Life.

Hale has been charged with scaling consumer use of Oura’s wearable – the $399 Oura Ring, which tracks stages of sleep and multiple aspects of daily activity – and growing a recently launched subscription service.

The appointment comes a month after Oura reported that it sold its one-millionth ring. Earlier this month, the firm said it had raised capital at a $2.55 billion valuation.

After starting with sleep, which Oura views as foundational to overall health, the firm has moved into reproductive health and family planning.

Its influencers, which the firm refers to as ambassadors, include athletes in the NFL (Odell Beckham Jr.) and NBA (Chris Paul), as well as Olympians Lindsey Vonn, Katie Ledecky and Carissa Moore.
