Astellas makes two appointments
Astellas hired Phil Tennant as brand general manager for new oncology products, responsible for setting a unified brand direction for new oncology products and leading the creation of marketing strategies for them. Based in Northbrook, Illinois, he will report to chief commercial officer Yukio Matsui. Tennant previously worked at Bristol-Myers Squibb.
Dr. Anthony Yanni has joined Astellas as SVP for patient centricity, responsible for leading the development and execution of global patient centricity strategy. He will be based in Northbrook, Illinois, reporting to corporate EVP and chief strategy officer Naoki Okamura. Yanni most recently worked at Sanofi Medical.
Reata makes two executive appointments
Reata Pharmaceuticals has appointed Manmeet Soni as EVP and CFO, reporting to president and CEO Warren Huff. Soni was previously CFO of Alnylam Pharmaceuticals. The company also promoted Jason Wilson, its former CFO, to the role of EVP of operations, also reporting to Huff.
Bellus names medical chief
Biopharmaceutical company Bellus Health appointed Dr. Catherine Bonuccelli as chief medical officer. Previously, she worked for more than two decades at AstraZeneca as global medicines clinical VP for the inflammation, neuroscience and respiratory therapeutic areas, among other roles.
Amunix hires Hora
Amunix Pharmaceuticals has appointed Dr. Maninder Hora as chief technical operations officer. Previously, he was chief technical operations officer at Nektar Therapeutics and VP of product operations and quality at Facet Biotech/PDL BioPharma.
Aerie names Vargas medical director
Aerie Pharmaceuticals has appointed Luis Vargas as medical director for medical affairs, reporting to Weylyn Bui, VP of medical affairs. Vargas will oversee the organizational planning and operational needs of medical affairs at Aerie. Previously, he worked at Revision Optics and Abbott Laboratories.
Coats named chairman of Millar’s board
Medical device manufacturer Millar has appointed Dr. Alfred Coats as chairman of the board. He was a professor at Baylor University for 28 years and founder of LifeTech, another medical device company, where he was president and CEO until he sold the company in 2013.
