McCann Health New York has named Tim Jones executive creative director.

Jones joined the agency in early December. He is replacing former ECD Michael Bonilla, who departed the firm in September to join Klick. Jones reports to June Laffey, chief creative officer of McCann Health New York, and Matt Eastwood, global chief creative officer of McCann Health.

“I have a bit of a history with McCann, I freelanced for McCann Health London,” Jones said. “I knew if an opportunity came up for a permanent creative role, McCann Health was the place I wanted to be. It’s exciting to finally have that opportunity and in an office that is considered the headquarters of the network. It’s a great honor.”

In this role, Jones will lead creative across several brands and work closely with other creative leaders like ECD Stephanie Berman, who leads the agency’s copy department.

Previously, Jones was SVP and group creative director at Area 23 and creative director for Havas Lynx. Prior to that, he also worked in creative roles at Langland in the U.K. and Boomtown in South Africa.

Jones is also focused on attracting new creative talent to the agency and working with young creatives to show them how healthcare work can be creative too.

“Having great creative people in the healthcare industry is a massive benefit for everybody, specifically people like Matt Eastwood and June Laffey, people who act as magnets to young creative talent and who make talent move from consumer to healthcare,” Jones said. “People are starting to look at this industry as one where you can flex creative muscles and do good work for good causes and make a real difference.”

This year, McCann Health has named several new leaders, including two global roles. Eastwood was appointed global CCO last January and Hilary Gentile was promoted to global chief strategy officer in August. Other hires include naming John Reid chief creative officer for McCann Health New Jersey and Jill Beene joining McCann Health Echo as president.
