Biogen Alzheimer’s clinical trial data has shown the drug to be beneficial if given for long periods at high doses, according to a presentation at the Clinical Trials on Alzheimer’s Disease conference on Thursday. The treatment, aducanumab, was abandoned in March after failures. It has since been revived for additional testing. (Bloomberg)

The House is planning to hold a showdown vote on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s bill that would allow Medicare to negotiate prices for prescription drugs. It may pass the House, but it is not expected to succeed in the Senate. The bill is not backed by the White House. (Associated Press)

The global stockpile of Ebola vaccines will increase from 300,000 to 500,000 doses. The board of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, agreed to the increase due to the demands from the current outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. (STAT)

There has been one new vaping illness case and one death over the past two weeks. This increases the number hospitalized to 2,291 and the death toll to 48, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. More deaths are being investigated as well. (Reuters)
