Opioid overdoses have increased during the pandemic, but states are cutting opioid programs. Many states, including Oregon, Colorado, Georgia and New Jersey, have cut millions from behavioral health and substance abuse programs. (STAT)

Novartis said it will not profit from COVID-19 drugs it is making available to developing countries. Novartis’ generic unit Sandoz will provide treatments to 79 low- and lower-middle income countries, but did not disclose what it will charge for the drugs. (Reuters)

Walgreens has partnered with DoorDash to deliver over-the-counter drugs. More than 2,300 products from the store are available for delivery.  The service will first be available in the Chicago, Atlanta and Denver areas. (CNBC)

Johnson & Johnson expects to begin a late-stage coronavirus vaccine trial in September. The company is in talks with the National Institutes of Health to move up the timeline for the trial. (CNBC)

Another study showed no benefit to using hydroxychloroquine in COVID-19 patients. The antimalarial drug did not lead to faster symptom improvement among COVID-19 patients who were not hospitalized. (STAT)
