Covid-19 will mark a turning point in AI’s utility to combat an outbreak, said this week’s podcast guest, Murray Aitken. As executive director of the IQVIA Institute for Human Data Science, Aitken spoke with MM&M’s executive editor, Marc Iskowitz, about the potential of big data to help track and predict the outbreak’s spread, as well as other areas where healthcare is combining science with analytics to improve understanding, from Alzheimer’s research to healthcare marketing.

Aitken also discussed the current state of the orphan drug ecosystem, previewed the institute’s global outlook on drug-market spending (slated to debut March 10), and shared why opera is his go-to pastime for unwinding after a day in the data trenches.
