Collette Douaihy is executive vice president, executive creative director of Digitas Health. She is also a Health and Wellness judge at Cannes this year.

Last year everyone talked about artificial intelligence and big data. What do you expect to be the talk of Cannes this year?

The topic this year will be moving picture. Lots of videos and brands engaging in long form storytelling.
How do you feel about the rule changes made for submissions this year?
It will help increase competitiveness and delineate the work in a clean way.  I also think it will reduce the chance of a single campaign dominating the Awards.
What is your opinion on the change in scheduling from the weekend to Monday and Tuesday for this year’s festival?
There seems to be a lot of excitement around this new schedule. I think it will bring us together and make the Festival feel more impactful.
This year, you are a judge. I’ve heard rumors the judges are sequestered in the basement of the Palais. How are you preparing for the days upon days of judging?
Sleep when possible. Lots of water. And, above all, getting to know my fellow judges. It makes for long days that are fun and engaging.
Does the Digitas Health team have any Cannes traditions?
In years when we a full team attending, every day in Cannes is about the work. There are a handful of watering holes and restaurants we like to visit, and every meal, every round of drinks is spent talking about the work we have seen and how we can make our work better.
What is one piece of advice you’d give to someone attending Cannes for the first time?
It can be overwhelming because there is so much great work to see. So, take it all in and pace yourself.
Gutter Bar, the Carlton Terrace, or the Majestic?
Carlton Terrace. Hands down.
