Amgen has promoted Jim Daly to the new position of senior vice president, North America commercial operations. Daly, formerly vice presideny and general manager of the U.S. oncology business unit at Amgen, will be responsible for leading the company’s commercial activities in the United States and Canada.

Solvay Pharmaceuticals has named Rene Degreve general manager of North America. He was the general manager for finance, previously. He will replace David Birney who will be retiring in March of 2006. Degreve will remain a member of the executive committee.

Genentech has promoted Charles Calderaro to vice president, corporate engineering. Calderaro, who joined Genentech in 2002 as senior director, biochemical manufacturing, succeeds Timothy Moore. Moore was promoted to vice president, South San Francisco manufacturing in December 2004. Additionally Peter Carberry, was named vice president, clinical operations. Carberry joins Genentech from Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research and Development, where he served as the senior vice president of global operations. Todd Rich was promoted to vice president, clinical and commercial regulatory Affairs. He most recently was the senior director, regulatory affairs.
