Wicks Communications & Media Partners named Michael Tansey chief executive of its Wicks Medical Information unit. Tansey most recently was president and chief executive of Medcases Inc., and also held various posts at Thomson Corp. for more than 10 years.
At Wicks Medical,Tansey will lead a firm that operates in the medical information services market and “concentrates on growth by acquisition of companies in the medical education and publishing sectors,” according to a company statement.
At Thomson, Tansey was a group chief executive of Thomson Scientific and Healthcare, and oversaw the business units ISI, Derwent and Current Drugs. During this period, he was responsible for the successful acquisition and integration of five businesses and implementation
of a group-wide customer focused reorganization. Wicks is a New York-based investment firm specializing in communications, information and media businesses.
