MANUFACTURERS Paul Edick has been named CEO of specialty pharmaceutical company MedPointe, succeeding Anthony Wild who is retiring. Wild, who was a founding partner of the company, will continue to serve as non-executive chairman, the company said. Among MedPointe’s biggest products are allergy medication Astelin and Optivar for allergic conjunctivitis.Genentech made four VP appointments. William Anderson was named VP, sales and marketing, immunology. Scott Carmer was named VP, sales and marketing, Rituxan immunology. Pamela Klein was named VP, clinical oncology, hematology and HER family. Mary Sliwkowski was named VP, regulatory affairs, chemistry manufacturing and controls. AGENCIESXchange, the relationship-marketing unit of CommonHealth, has announced three new hires and a promotion. John Clark has joined Xchange as EVP, managing director. Most recently, Clark was employed at GSW Worldwide, where he was responsible for developing professional and consumer CRM programs. Charles Di Stefano joined Xchange as VP, account director. He most recently held the position of supervisor at Rapp Collins Worldwide. Janice Furie has been named account supervisor. Furie was previously employed by Pfizer as a marketing manager. Joann Rude has been promoted from business manager to senior business manager. In this position, she will continue to act as liaison between the client’s print production group and the internal groups of Xchange. Kane and Finkel hired Tara D’Andrea as account group supervisor. D’Andrea will focus on the agency’s diabetes and cardiovascular accounts. Wendy Wittkofski will serve as editor. Wittkofski has 15 years of editorial experience in healthcare communications, consumer advertising and financial services. Audrey Ragozzino will serve as copy supervisor. The Ferguson, professional advertising and promotion unit of CommonHealth, has made new appointments in its creative management team. Mickey McDermott, in addition to his executive creative director/copy role, has taken on the newly created position of chief strategic officer. Lisa DeSordi, a CommonHealth employee of more than 19 years, has been named SVP, creative director/art. Neil Paulino has joined Ferguson as SVP, director of creative services, a new post in the group.MEDIADowden Health Media named Jennifer Day SVP, professional division.
