An iPad App called Visual Fields Easy could be used to diagnose the early signs of glaucoma.

The Institute for Health Technology Transformation reports that researchers from the University of Iowa, the University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins University tested the app in 200 patients in Nepal and that the results show the app may have “promise for screening populations that have limited or no access to traditional eye care.”

The app simulates the visual field test which assesses what patients are unable to see.
