US sales reps working for Novartis have filed a $225 million class-action lawsuit against the drugmaker, demanding pay for overtime work. Novartis sales rep Simona Lopes filed the suit at the US District Court for the Southern District of New York on behalf of herself and other employees of Novartis in the US.
“Ms. Lopes and the class are entitled to unpaid overtime premium wages for their work beyond 40 hours a week,” said Steven Wittels of Sanford Wittels & Heisler, the law firm representing Lopes.
Novartis is involved in another class-action suit, launched by the same firm in 2005, which alleges sex discrimination by Novartis managers against current and former employees.
