WebMD Health has acquired the interactive medical businesses of Medsite for $41 million in cash. The deal is expected to close during the September 2006 quarter. Details were unavailable at press time.

WebMD CEO Wayne Gattinella said the deal “will enable WebMD to provide its pharmaceutical and biotechnology customers with an expanded set of online solutions to increase sales and marketing efficiencies.”

Medsite cofounder and CEO Sundeep Bhan added, “Our collective assets will allow us to reach the largest number of physicians across all major specialties to better serve our clients with an unparalleled set of products and services.”

Medsite provides e-detailing services, offering clients its proprietary database of more than 400,000 physicians.
