Pfizer won the dismissal of a whistleblower lawsuit filed against the company by former marketing exec Peter Rost, accusing the firm of promoting its growth hormone Genotropin for unapproved uses. Rost was VP of marketing at Pfizer until he was fired in December 2005. He first gained notoriety in 2004 after speaking out publicly accusing the pharmaceutical industry of misinforming the public about the reimportation of drugs from Canada.  Rost told Reuters news service he plans to appeal the ruling handed down Friday by US District Judge Joseph Tauro in federal court in Boston.“We will amend our complaint with the requested data and expect to prevail with an appeal,” he said. Pfizer has not publicly commented on the ruling. The dismissal ruling came two days prior to the Sept. 10 release of a book written by Rost titled, The Whistleblower: Confessions of a Healthcare Hitman. The book claims to detail “the illegal, even criminal business practices the author witnessed at his corporation, as well as his crusade to legalize the reimportation of drugs.”
