Sanofi CEO Chris Viehbacher, who has dual German and Canadian citizenship, is moving to Boston. Bloomberg reports that the pharmaceutical chief will not only be closer to subsidiary Genzyme, which is across the Charles in Cambridge, MA, but will also be closer to Chief Strategy Officer David-Alexandre Gros, Genzyme’s leader David Meeker and 12 members of the executive committee who also live in the US.
The move has the potential to offer Viehbacher a tax break, though Sanofi did not answer Bloomberg’s questions about what this means in terms of what the CEO will pay in French taxes. The company said Viehbacher’s move was for personal reasons.
