Despite greater access to preventative healthcare, higher education rates and comfortable incomes, baby boomers may not be any healthier than the generation that preceded them or the ones that follow.

A study published in the health journal Milbank Quarterly showed that this group is struggling with obesity, which offsets their other lifestyle advantages, the Association of Health Care Journalists reported. Obesity is linked to co-morbid conditions including diabetes and heart disease.

Despite this, the AHCJ also said that the study indicates the need for healthcare services is not expected to “be greater or less than might be expected based on the size of this group.”
