“Alay has been a quiet orchestrator of transformative change,” writes Alay Patel’s nominator, Aliah Davis-McHenry, executive director of global corporate marketing at Bristol Myers Squibb. “Despite his low-key demeanor, his impact has been substantial.”

Patel’s ability to refresh brands and engage consumers was honed across different industries and roles. He worked for Johnson & Johnson, Dow Jones, ESPN, creative agency Superdigital and Verizon before joining Bristol Myers Squibb. At Superdigital, he developed social graphics for Julian Edelman of the New England Patriots along with other professional athletes. As associate director, digital/social design at BMS, his work touches every corner of the company and its corporate branding, leaving his creative mark on many projects. This includes the BMS.com redesign, external marketing campaigns, internal advocacy programs, digital signage, event branding and social media.

In 2017, Patel and his wife rescued a senior Shih-Tzu named Charlie, who instantly became a source of love and joy for their family.
